About our link fetcher
If you run a website and found this address in your logs, a person using Boss saved a link to one of your pages. Here is what that means.
How to recognise it
Requests identify themselves with this user agent:
BossLinkFetcher/1.0 (+https://capissoboss.com/bot)
They come from Cloudflare’s network.
Why it visits
Boss helps people keep notes about their business or project. When someone saves a link, pastes one into a note, or shares one from their phone, Boss reads that page once so it can keep the title, a short summary and the main text alongside their note. It is much like the person opening the page in a browser.
It does not crawl. It never follows links from one page to another, and it does not open links found inside emails unless a person asks for that specific link.
What it does and does not do
- One request for the page that was saved, following at most 5 redirects.
- Gives up after 10 seconds, and reads at most 5 MB.
- Reads web pages, PDFs, plain text and images only.
- Sends no cookies and never signs in. Pages behind a login or paywall are recorded as unreadable.
- Does not run JavaScript.
- Keeps what it reads privately, for the person who saved the link and the people they work with. Nothing is published.
